The 2017 UCLA Bruins football team are led by a star quarterback in Josh Rosen, but there are question marks all over the roster.

The UCLA Bruins entered the 2016 college football season with a ton of expectations. Armed with a sophomore quarterback who took the world by storm as a freshman in 2015, the Bruins were considered the favorite to at least win the Pac-12 South. However, an injury to Josh Rosen forced him to miss chunks of the season, and the team just did not have the rushing attack to offset the loss of their signal-caller.

By the time the smoke cleared on the season, the Bruins were looking at a 4-8 record, missing a bowl game for only the second time in the last six seasons. As the team heads into the 2017 season, there are a ton of question marks surrounding the roster, especially up front on the offensive, and defensive line. Rosen should be healthy to start the season, and with both of his top two receivers back for the 2017 campaign, he could be in for a special year.

Missing from this year’s team is Takkarist McKinley, who was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He was a sack master for the Bruins, and without him up front, guys like freshman Jaelan Phillips are going to have to step up. The Bruins have also lost a ton of talent in the secondary, which could prove costly in a pass-happy Pac-12 in 2017.

UCLA opens up their 2017 season at home against the Texas A&M Aggies, the same team who beat them in overtime in their building to open the season in 2016. The Bruins will open their 2017 Pac-12 schedule on the road against Stanford, who should be much-improved over last season. If Rosen is healthy, he is one of the best in college football, but he is going to need time if he is going to get the ball to the likes of Darren Andrews and Jordan Lasley.
