The July 24 edition of RAW provided a ton of clarity for the SummerSlam card for next month, and we got some matches officially added for the event.
SummerSlam is just around the corner, and with less than a month left until WWE goes live from Brooklyn, we’re starting to see the big picture for the Biggest Party of the Summer come together.
RAW opened with a ton of questions surrounding SummerSlam, between the Universal title picture, the RAW Women’s title scene and plenty of other smaller feuds that needed to be advanced heading in. We got some answers by the end of the show, and at least a general idea of what else is coming for SummerSlam next month.
To start the show, RAW general manager Kurt Angle came out to announce the main event for SummerSlam next month, and was immediately interrupted by Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns before he could give out the news.
After plenty of back and forth between the four, we had Angle announce that Brock Lesnar would defend his Universal title next month in a Fatal Four Way between Lesnar, Joe, Strowman and Reigns.
In addition to that star-studded main event, we had a number one contender’s match between Bayley and Sasha Banks for the chance to face Alexa Bliss for the Women’s championship at SummerSlam. After a solid match, we saw Bayley pull off a bit of an upset on Banks, and earned her shot to battle Bliss at SummerSlam for the title.
With three matches officially confirmed, there’s still plenty of build up left for SummerSlam next month. We should see Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt at the event with how things are going on RAW, amaybe a match with Big Cass and the Big Show to add to the mix and a possible Jason Jordan push for the Intercontinental title may be in the works with an appearance on Miz TV scheduled for next week.
