General ticket sales for Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor postponed until July 26

Ticket sales for Conor McGregor-Floyd Mayweather have begun for those registered with Ticket Master’s Fan Verified program, but the start of general ticket sales has been postponed until Wednesday, July 26
Next month’s mega fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor is projected to smash previous pay-per-view highs, and ticket sales for the historic boxing match are expected to earn over $77 million, just shy of the $79 million in ticket sales that Mayweather’s 2015 bout versus Manny Pacquiao brought in.
But if you’ve been waiting for general ticket sales to begin for the cross-sport spectacle, you’ll have to wait just a little longer. According to ESPN sports business insider Darren Rovell, general ticket sales for the event won’t begin until Wednesday, and tickets are currently only available to those who’ve previously registered with Ticket Master’s Fan Verified program.
The purpose of Ticket Master’s Fan Verified program is to ensure that only fans, not scalpers or bots, will have an opportunity to purchase tickets first. Members of the program had to register with Ticket Master no later than 10 p.m. P.T. on Thursday, July 20, and were given a unique offer code to enter at the time of purchase. A strict limit of two tickets per household has been put in place for members of the program, and tickets are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Unfortunately for promoters of the big-money bout, ticket sales haven’t gone as well as they were expected to, and anyone who purchased the cheapest ticket to the fight from Vivid Seats on Monday can now buy the exact same ticket for 33 percent less. On ticket giant Stubhub, a site where fans set the price of the tickets they want to resell, ticket prices for Mayweather-McGregor have been dropping and are likely to continue doing so as more tickets become available.
Although Mayweather’s 2015 bout versus Pacquiao raked in a total of $623.5 million between pay-per-view purchases, ticket sales, merchandise, betting and sponsorship deals, according to ESPN, Mayweather-McGregor has the potential to rival that total.

In terms of pay-per-view sales, Mayweather-Pacquiao totaled a very healthy $455 million behind an unbelievable 4.6 million buys.
