MLB DFS Value Plays for DraftKings and FanDuel July 26th

I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.

Tonight’s slate features 10 games, with Texas (5.9), Chicago (5.8), Cleveland (5.5), and Toronto (5.4), holding the best projected team totals. With high priced players available tonight, finding value will be critical for success. Here are a handful of value plays on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

DraftKings MLB Values:

Matt Carpenter – STL (1B) – $3600

While the Cardinals don’t have the best projected team total, first baseman Matt Carpenter should offer value on DraftKings tonight. Carpenter offers a significant discount on DraftKings, relative to FanDuel and will be in an advantageous matchup against a righty. Carpenter holds a .358 wOBA split and a .219 ISO split. At first glance, it appears that batters in this game will also benefit from a very hot night in St. Louis, as temperatures are expected to reach 90 degrees.

Miguel Cabrera – DET (1B) – $3400

Miguel Cabrera is another affordable first baseman, that also offers obvious power. Detroit has a favorable total of 5.3 runs and even though Cabrera will face righty, he’s extremely underpriced on DraftKings, relative to FanDuel.

Logan Forsythe – LAD (2B/3B) – $2900

Logan Forsythe is simply too cheap, given the Dodgers total of 5.2 runs and his spot in the order (5th). If Forsythe continues to bat fifth, he’ll be one of the best punt plays on the slate. While his recent fantasy production doesn’t jump off of the page, his recent batted ball stats would lead us to believe that he’s been facing some bad variance. In the last 15 days, his distance is up 21 feet, his hard hit percentage is up 15%, and his exit velocity is up 3 MPH, over his yearly numbers.

FanDuel MLB Values:

Corey Seager – LAD (SS) – $3700

A few of the Dodgers’ heavy hitters are extremely underpriced on FanDuel tonight, and make for excellent value plays. Shortstop Corey Seager is now priced at $3700, one of the lowest prices he’s been in recent weeks. The Dodgers are projected to score 5.2 runs and facing the righty, Ervin Santana, should benefit lefties like Seager. Seager holds a .387 wOBA split and a .208 ISO split.

Cody Bellinger – LAD (1B) – $3900

Cody Bellinger is even cheaper on FanDuel relative to DraftKings, and is one of the best plays on the slate. The Dodgers total of 5.2 runs doesn’t stand out as one of the best, so studs like Bellinger may be slightly underowned. Like Seager, Bellinger should benefit from facing a righty, where he holds a .413 wOBA split and a .372 ISO split.

Alex Avila – DET (C) – $2400

Alex Avila will always be in play, anytime the Tigers face a righty. Tonight they’ll face righty Ian Kennedy, and if Avila is batting second, he’ll be a tremendous bargain on FanDuel. Avila holds some of the most drastic splits in baseball, with a .379 wOBA split (.046 better than when facing a lefty), and a .233 ISO split (.130 better than when facing a lefty).
