5. Djibril Cisse

In many ways, this might read like a copy and paste of the previous page. Much like Abel Xavier, Djibril Cisse turned out for teams in numerous countries, played international soccer for a top European nation, and has a personal wall of hairstyle shame on Google. He has also often styled his facial hair into strange shapes, as we can see here.

But in career terms, Cisse was streets ahead of his Portuguese style counterpart. He played for France at a time when they were holders of both the World Cup and the European Championship. He took part in their successful Confederations Cup campaign in 2003.

Perhaps most notably, he scored a penalty in the shootout as Liverpool won the Champions League in 2005, and Cisse also scored in the FA Cup final 12 months later. Hell, he was even Lord of the Manor of Frodsham.

I’m all for the landed gentry updating their image a little bit, but Cisse has spent his career employing countless new looks. Perhaps ugliest of all, as he played for Liverpool when he got married, he wore a red suit on the big day.

At least the red matches. With the blood that is streaming from my eyes now that I have seen that monstrosity.

As well as a better career, Cisse trumps Xavier in hair terms for going beyond a simple blonde bleaching. The Frenchman sported a mohawk in both green and blue while at Sunderland, for instance. I’m sure he blended into the crowd in the north east of England superbly.
