8. Giovanni Simeone

If you’re not familiar with a very famous photo of Gio Simeone from 2013, then you’re probably looking at the above picture and wondering how he made it on to this list. His haircut is a bit of a mess — is he trying to make the shadow of his head look like Batman? — but it’s not too bad overall.

However, it would be absurd to have a list of brilliant soccer hairstyles and not include Simeone. Behold the following, and ask yourself how did his father ever allow this to happen?

Diego Simeone was a no nonsense player, and his management style at Atletico Madrid has been much the same. So how was his son ever allowed out in public with this monstrosity?

It’s hard to know where to begin with it. For starters, the side sections look even worse than that time a 10-year-old schoolboy shaved his head to look like Sven Goran Eriksson. That alone would be bad enough, but there is also a long tuft at the back in the centre.

Either of these aspects alone would be crimes against humanity. Combined, they make for possibly the worst haircut the world has ever seen. To his credit, Simeone has sorted his hair out and has begun a very promising career.

The Argentine youth international spent last season in Serie A, and scored 12 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions for Genoa. Whatever he goes on to achieve, though, he will always be remembered for his haircut when he was aged 18. The internet never forgets.
