In a bit of intrigue, Eric Bledsoe has joined LeBron James and Derrick Rose for workouts in Las Vegas.

LeBron James has been unusually quiet this summer. He’s mostly operated behind the scenes and has done very little recruiting compared to past offseasons. That seems to be changing as he has invited Eric Bledsoe to join him and Derrick Rose in their workouts.

According to Chris Haynes of ESPN, James, Bledsoe and Rose are among the players working out together in Las Vegas.

Earlier this week, Rose signed a one-year $2.1 million contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. This was a bit of a letdown, as just six months previous he was reported to be looking for a five-year $150 million deal.

ESPN says James played a role in that signing. He possibly convinced the point guard this is his best opportunity at a championship. Now, as the two former foes team up on the court, they may be teaming up off the court as well.

The Phoenix Suns have been listed as one of the more attractive landing spots since Kyrie Irving requested his trade. At least from a Cavaliers perspective. The Suns have lots of cap space, good young talent and a veteran in Bledsoe who could help keep them in the top of the Eastern Conference.

The Suns have reportedly refused to include Josh Jackson in trade talks which means that Bledsoe would have to be the prize for Cleveland. Ironically nicknamed Mini-Lebron, Bledsoe will supplement Irving as well as anyone can.

Despite recurring knee injuries, he’s an athletic point who can slash defenders with his quick first step. He’s also a respectable outside shooter, knocking down 33.5 percent of his shots last season. He will also provide a nice defensive upgrade over Irving. His effort stands out the most.

Of course, these workouts may have nothing to do with the trade talks. both Bledsoe and Rose played under John Calipari. They could have formed a relationship through him, thus the workouts. Proximity could also be a factor. When NBA players are in the same city they tend to find each other in order to improve.
