One of the Cleveland Browns’ offseason acquisitions, Kenny Britt, has already been injured.
Kenny Britt of the Cleveland Browns was taken to the locker room by a trainer and didn’t return to play during training camp on Thursday.
The injury apparently came following a long touchdown catch made by Britt on a throw from quarterback Cody Kessler, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. It was the play of the day at camp, but the celebration was short lived.
Britt was picked up this offseason after a career year with the Los Angeles Rams. He achieved a career-high in total receptions and yards. He caught 68 passes for 1,002 yards for a disappointing Rams team.
While Kenny Britt is playing his best, the move was still risky for the Browns. The 28-year-old will be making $32.5 million over the next four years. They hope he can continue to perform at a high level, which is a major question mark. Also, his job is to replace Terrelle Pryor, who had a similar season with the Browns last year.
Pryor could have been re-signed affordably. He will be making just $6 million on a one-year contract with the Washington Redskins next season. However, the team decided to go for Britt.
The Browns are hoping to turn their team around after a number of awful seasons. In 2016, they finished last in the AFC North with a 1-15 record. This earned them the top pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. They selected Myles Garrett, who was supposed to get all the attention early in training camp, but this injury to Britt has shifted the focus.

In addition to Britt, Fullback Dan Vitale was carted off and wide receiver James Wright was taken to the locker room.
It is unclear how serious this injury is for Kenny Britt, but Browns head coach Hue Jackson will give an update after practice.
