Media days can have plenty of important questions, and Mike Leach weighed in on the most important one: is a hot dog a sandwich or not?
Washington State head coach Mike Leach obviously had a ton of questions, as did anyone else, at the Pac-12 Media Day on Thursday. However, one question got right down to the nitty gritty right away, and Leach didn’t hold back with his answer.
The debate about whether or not a hot dog is a sandwich has raged on for ages, and there seem to be endless different right answers that go along with both sides of the argument. Plenty of big names have given their thoughts, whether they’re celebrities or sports stars, but no one has been completely right so far.
So, while he was answering questions about his program, Leach took a question about the hot dog debate, and gave his thoughts on whether the delicious barbecue favorite is a sandwich or not.

“I don’t like hot dogs,” Leach said. “I didn’t like hot dogs when I was a kid. I’d have bologna sandwich after bologna sandwich, and anything that remotely resembled bologna I ate it. Everyone says go to the ball game and eat a hot dog, but not me. So no, it’s not a sandwich.”
Of course, for those hot dog lovers out there, fear not. Leach said that his decision actually benefits them in the end.

“No disrespect to people who like hot dogs,” Leach said. They can have mine. It gives more to them.”
Next time, we need a reporter to ask Leach how a dog would wear pants if he put them on? We need answers on whether it would cover all four legs and leave the top part of his body uncovered, or if he’d wear them like a human on his back hind legs?
