ARLINGTON, TX - JULY 09: Yu Darvish

Yu Darvish has been attached to trade rumors for a few months now, and it looks like the Rangers are finally ready to pull the trigger if a good deal comes along.

Yu Darvish has been one of the big prizes that teams are hoping to land before the MLB trade deadline hits in a few days, but no one knew for sure if the Texas Rangers were willing to move one of their star pitchers in a deal.

Now, however, it looks like the Rangers realize that it’s time to pull the trigger on a trade for Darvish, and they’re reportedly ready for a big return if the deal if it eventually happens.

According to Ken Rosenthal, the Rangers are confident that Darvish will yield a quality trade, and they’re reportedly telling teams that they are officially ready to move the star pitcher in the next few days. If everything goes according to the team’s plans, we could see Darvish in a new uniform come Aug. 1.

Darvish’s last start on Wednesday was a complete travesty, as he gave up 10 earned runs in 3 2/3 innings pitched, which surely didn’t help the team as they look to figure out the trade value for a guy like Darvish.

One team looking at adding some pitching to build up for a postseason run is the Chicago Cubs, who are already tied to trying to trade for Darvish. The Cubs are also considering Francisco Liriano from the Toronto Blue Jays, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them deal for an arm in the next few days.

Darvish would likely be a rental for a title contender, as he’s playing in the last year of his contract before he heads to free agency once this season wraps up, and plenty of teams will be calling the Rangers in the next few days trying to make a deal.
