Nebraska Football wearing 1997 throwback uniforms this season (Video)

Nebraska and their apparel provider, adidas, announced they will be rocking throwback uniforms honoring their title teams from the 1990’s.
When it comes to college football dynasty periods since the 1980s, there are just a few that come to mind. One of those was the period of five seasons from 1993 to 1997 when the Nebraska Cornhuskers played for four national championships, winning three of them including back-to-back crowns in 1994 and 1995.
Since everything that is old is new again, the Cornhuskers are becoming the latest team to go old school with their uniforms for the upcoming season. On Thursday adidas, which has been outfitting the Big Red Machine of college football for decades now, unveiled that Nebraska is going to be the next team to do so.
The Cornhuskers will be taking the field with uniforms this season to honor the 20th anniversary of when they won that third of those titles — well, when they split a title in the 1997 season with Michigan.
What’s funny is that fans, not just with Nebraska but with almost every sports team, have a problem with their old uniforms and old look, until decades later when it all of a sudden is cool again. The apparel brand did the same thing last year when it brought back the old look from the 1980s that the University of Miami rocked while winning their national crowns.

It would be fun to see how many other college football teams decide to go back to an old school look. While a lot of the powers — like USC and Texas and Penn State and Alabama and more — are wearing the same threads as the past in terms of general look, what if Florida State went back to the uniforms of the Deion era? How about Florida from the 1990s? We might be on to something here, people!
