Family comes to town in this week’s episode of The Night Shift. Here’s how you can watch season 4, episode 6 live on TV and online.
What could possibly make NBC‘s The Night Shift more complicated? Family, of course, and that’s the theme of this Thursday’s episode.
Season 4, episode 6 is called “Family Matters” and is not a reference to the classic ABC sitcom of the same name, as cool as that would be. Instead, it deals with people whose family members are involved, particularly Paul (Robert Bailey Jr.) His sister is a hotshot doctor, but she’s particularly cool because she’s played by the underrated Erica Tazel (The Good Fight, Justified, Roots). Anyone who remembers Tazel as U.S. Marshal Rachel Brooks on Justified knows how much she can bring to a show.
Meanwhile, The Night Shift finally decides to let T.C. (Eoin Macken) come back to Texas from Syria, and gets around to addressing the impact of former main character Topher Zia’s off-screen death. In reality, actor Ken Leung decided to leave The Night Shift between seasons, but it was kind of a bummer that the show chose to kill Topher off instead of just having him leave. We’ll have to see how this episode handles that plot point.
Here’s how NBC officially describes the episode:
"Kenny joins Drew at his MMA veteran’s support group and finds himself in the fight of his life. Jordan and Cain treat casualties from a hotel fire while Shannon follows a hunch to help save a young victim.Paul’s superstar sister, Dr. Bella Cummings, pays a visit to San Antonio Memorial and provides desperately needed support during a busy shift. Meanwhile, TC finally returns home, forcing him to deal with Topher’s death."
