The worst injuries are the ones that come from celebrations. After the Yankees’ walk-off win, it looks like Aaron Judge breaks his tooth when he gets hit.

What’s the worst part about celebrating a walk-off home run in baseball? The player that rounds the bases after hitting the home run has to be careful to not get hit during the celebration.

Let’s set the scene here. The Tampa Bay Rays are in town and it’s the bottom of the 11th. The Yankees are fighting for every game as we head down to the stretch of the season. The ball came screaming off of Brett Gardner’s bat and Yankees’ fans were sent into oblivion.

Gardner rounded the bases as his teammates met him at home plate to celebrate the victory. Usually in these situations, Gardner will be the one in the scary spot and in danger to get injured. Not this case, as Aaron Judge gets hit in the mouth and chips a tooth.

The caption from ESPN put it beautifully, as the Yankees should be celebrating with caution. Similar to Michael Strahan’s famous gap in his two front teeth, Aaron Judge has a similar look. But it looks like the top row of his teeth were unaffected, whileit looks like the bottom row was the one that gets hit.

It’s unclear whose helmet hits Judge, but as soon as he got hit in the mouth, he knew it. He immediately turned for the clubhouse and ran back in holding onto his teeth. No worries, Yankees’ fans, your rookie slugger will be back in the lineup tomorrow as the Yankees look to continue their winning streak.

New York is currently in the playoff hunt and are led by their younger studs, Judge and Gary Sanchez. I’m sure from now on, Judge will wear a mouthguard to these post-game celebrations.
