MLB DFS Value Plays for DraftKings and FanDuel July 28th

I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.

Tonight’s slate features 15 games, with Texas (6.2), Cleveland (5.8), Boston (5.6), Baltimore (5.4), and Toronto (5.4), holding the best projected team totals. With high priced players available tonight, finding value will be critical to success. Here are a handful of value plays on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

DraftKings MLB Values:

DraftKings
BOSTON, MA – SEPTEMBER 14: Chris Davis #19 of the Baltimore Orioles warms up in the batters box in the first inning of a game against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park on September 14, 2016 in Boston, Massachusetts. (Photo by Adam Glanzman/Getty Images) /

Chris Davis – BAL (1B) – $3800

Baltimore will head to Texas, to take on the Rangers, in a game in which the Orioles are projected to score 5.4 runs. First baseman, Chris Davis, is much cheaper on DraftKings tonight, relative to FanDuel. Davis should be batting clean up and will benefit from facing the righty, Andrew Cashner. Davis is much more effective against righties, holding a .344 wOBA split and a .281 ISO split. While his fantasy production has been inconsistent of late, all of Davis’ batted ball stats would indicate that he’s actually hitting the ball quite well. In the last 15 days, his distance is up 7 feet, his hard hit percentage is up 17%, and his exit velocity is up 3 MPH.

Mark Trumbo – BAL (OF) – $3800

Mark Trumbo is another Orioles’ batter that is a better value play on DraftKings, relative to FanDuel. Trumbo, a righty, actually holds reverse splits, and dominates right handed pitching. He holds a .333 wOBA split (.077 better than when facing a lefty) and a .229 ISO split (.106 better than when facing a lefty). With temperatures reaching close to 100 degrees, batters like Mark Trumbo and Chris Davis could benefit.

Ian Kinsler – DET (2B) – $3200

Ian Kinsler is extremely underpriced tonight on DraftKings, relative to FanDuel. While he will face Dallas Keuchel tonight, his price has fallen over $1000 and he is much more expensive on FanDuel. Kinsler will be in an advantageous matchup, as he has proven success against lefties, with a .361 wOBA split and a .240 ISO split. If you’re looking to stack the Tigers tonight, consider getting more exposure on DraftKings.

FanDuel MLB Values:

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – JULY 22: Elvis Andrus
ST. PETERSBURG, FL – JULY 22: Elvis Andrus /

Elvis Andrus – TEX (SS) – $3000

Texas has the best projected team total of 6.2 runs, and they’ll face the struggling pitcher, Chris Tillman. While he’s been a bit better of late, he still holds one of the slates lowest quality start percentages, earning a quality start in only 14.3% of his games. The entire Texas team remains severely underpriced on FanDuel, but Elvis Andrus stands out as one of the most mispriced players on the slate. Andrus should be batting second, and while he is a righty, he still holds positive splits against right handed pitching. Andrus is simply too cheap given the team total and his spot in the order. Note, Andrus will also provide stolen base upside, as he averages .20 stolen bases per game.

Mike Napoli – TEX (1B) – $3000

Mike Napoli is one of Texas’ power hitters who has really been hitting the cover off of the ball. In the last 15 days, his distance is up 45 feet, his hard hit percentage is up 12% and his exit velocity is up 5 MPH. With a hot night in Texas on the horizon, power hitters like Napoli should be considered.
