MLB Wild Card Standings: Royals open lead in American League race
NL Wild Card Standings
Arizona Diamondbacks (60-45, .571, +0.5)
J.D. Martinez led the major leagues with 12 RBI last week and tied Andrew McCutchen for the lead in home runs. Martinez launched five homers in seven games and also scored seven runs for the D-Backs. A.J. Pollock tied for the MLB lead with five doubles, and posted a .346/.414/.654 slash with a home run and five RBI for the week.
Colorado Rockies (60-46, .566, – GB)
The Rockies were in first place in the NL West on June 20, but have lost 20 of their 33 games since and now trail the Dodgers by 14.5 games in the division. However, thanks to the club’s strong start, Colorado still holds a 5.5-game cushion in the Wild Card standings.
Milwaukee Brewers (55-52, .514, 5.5)
St. Louis Cardinals (52-54, .495, 7.5 GB)
Pittsburgh Pirates (51-54, .486, 8.5 GB)
Miami Marlins (49-54, .476, 9.5 GB)
New York Mets (48-55, .466, 10.5 GB)
Atlanta Braves (48-55, .466, 10.5 GB)
San Diego Padres (47-58, .448, 12.5 GB)
Cincinnati Reds (42-63, .400, 17.5 GB)
San Francisco Giants (40-66, .377, 20 GB)
Philadelphia Phillies (38-64, .373, 20 GB)
The Padres are long out of the NL Wild Card race, but Manuel Margot had a big week at the plate. Margot led all major leaguers with 14 hits last week, and also paced the big leagues with a 1.464 OPS in seven games. The outfielder hit .500/.500/.964 with three home runs, two doubles, a triple, six RBI and six runs scored as the Padres picked up four wins.
Likewise, the Giants are well out of contention, but it’s good to see Madison Bumgarner back in action. Bumgarner allowed just one run on 11 hits and two walks in 12 innings across two starts last week. He struck out 11 and posted a 0.75 ERA.
