Hall of Fame week is here and there’s still no decision on Ezekiel Elliott in the near future.
The reigning NFC East champion Dallas Cowboys kick off the 2017 preseason against the Arizona Cardinals Thursday with the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. However, there’s a dark cloud surrounding last year’s leading rusher Ezekiel Elliott.
There’s been an ongoing 13-month investigation concerning the former Ohio State standout for assault allegations. The alleged victim claims she was Elliott’s girlfriend and had lived with him. Elliott has denied both claims.
The alleged victim accused Elliott of assault on two different occasions, with the first coming in February of 2016 in Florida. The second incident occurred last July in Columbus, Ohio. Recently the team has been hopeful a decision could come soon, however, that doesn’t appear as if that will be the case.
NFL has not made a decision on any potential Ezekiel Elliott discipline, and it is not expected to be announced this week, per source.

With the regular season right around the corner, Jerry Jones is hopeful NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell comes up with a decision sooner rather than later.
"“I certainly don’t have any idea what day,” Jones said Saturday. “But I know that the investigation and all the work there is, I would say is, pretty complete or they wouldn’t have had a hearing.”"
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Goodell will gather as much information as possible before making any decision.
"“So where we stand is Commissioner Goodell is waiting for the opinions of those expert advisers to be done, for them to complete their work, let the NFL know what they think. Until that work is done, until they make it known to the NFL what they believe should be done in this case, there will be no decision.”"

Elliott is not facing criminal charges, however, the NFL can discipline players without legal charges being filed. At this point, all Cowboys fans can do is play the waiting game along with the rest of the football world.
The Cowboys regular season opener comes against the New York Giants on Sunday, Sept. 2.
