Green Bay Packers: LaDarius Gunter, Davon House, Kevin King, Damarious Randall, Quinten Rollins

For Green Bay Packers long-time defensive coordinator, his cornerback struggles heading into 2017 are a real thing. He basically just needs to throw these five guys in there and see what sticks: LaDarius Gunter, Davon House, rookie Kevin King, Damrious Randall and Quinten Rollins. Maybe two or three of them prove to be viable commodities in the Packers’ maligned secondary, or not.

We should expect Randall and Rollins to be the two most likely candidates to start at both corner spots out of camp. While Gunter played big snaps in the 2016 NFC Playoffs, the Atlanta Falcons ripped him to shreds in the NFC Championship game. If he takes that loss in stride, maybe he eclipses Randall and Rollins to move up the cornerback depth chart to No. 1 or No. 2?

Bringing back House from the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason could prove fruitful or be a bad signing in trying to reach into an organization’s past. House wasn’t nearly as productive in Jacksonville as he had been in Green Bay previously. Then there is the rookie King out of Washington. He was a defensive standout for Chris Petersen’s Huskies last year. Expect him to be a difference maker for the Packers in 2017.

Overall, the only reliable players in Green Bay’s are safeties Morgan Burnett and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Those two can compete in the middle of the secondary with the best of them, but they’ll need help at both corner sports, nickel and dime. Who steps up from the quintet of Gunter, House, King, Randall and Rollins?
