The 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship will be the first of its kind held in a brand new stadium opening up.

The 2017 college football season is just around the corner and that means the road to the College Football Playoff will begin shortly. In three years under the new format, the Ohio State Buckeyes, Alabama Crimson Tide and Clemson Tigers have all left as national champions.

To have three different national champions at the end of three years shows parity to the format and why a playoff was one of the best things for the sport. The 2017 National Championship Game or 2018 to some, will be held at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

With the Falcons opening up a brand new stadium, it will be the premiere destination that takes over for the Georgia Dome for all big events. Last year’s event saw Clemson win on a last-second touchdown at Raymond James Stadium.

The two playoff games that lead into the National Championship Game will be played in the Rose Bowl and the Sugar Bowl. With plenty of strong contenders this season, it is going to be a tough road to Atlanta.

Alabama has been in the playoff all three years and would love to make it a fourth straight. Ohio State has been in two of the three seasons and they want to rebound after a poor showing this past year. Clemson has been in for two straight years and would certainly like to make it three.

They will each have plenty of challengers and a new face tends to rise every year. Who will be competing in Atlanta at year’s end?
