Fans rained down chants of “Trust The Process” during Markelle Fultz’s first pitch toss at Monday’s Phillies’ game.
First overall pick and new process-truster Markelle Fultz threw out the first pitch at the Philadelphia Phillies game on Monday. Fans welcomed him with open arms and chants of, “Trust The Process.”
Fultz was not phased by the chants and stated to ESPN, “Anywhere you go in Philly, you’re going to hear that.”
The former Washington Huskies’ guard is becoming popular with the tough Philly fanatics. It is easy to see why once you see his game. He is the prototypical lead guard with an inside-out game, elite playmaking ability and defensive potential.
Fultz looks like the perfect piece to join this team, bringing the Sixers out of NBA purgatory and back to the playoffs. Paired with fellow number one draft pick Ben Simmons, social media savant Joel Embiid, and veteran free agents brought in this year, Philly has the makings of a promising young core.
Simmons and Fultz will share ball-handling duties. Fultz could excel off-ball which makes the pairing with Simmons such a great fit. The two former number one picks will be surrounded with talent including free agent J.J. Redick and Rookie of the Year runner-up Dario Saric.
The current face of The Process, Embiid had the look of a potential superstar in his limited appearances last season. Embiid finished third in the Rookie of the Year voting, trailing winner Malcolm Brogdon of the Bucks and teammate Saric. The finish was impressive given Embiid only appeared in 31 games.

Maybe some of the 76ers draft luck and promise will start to trickle down to it’s baseball team. The Philadelphia Phillies are in their own stages of rebuilding and working on gathering the type of assets that the basketball team has.
