MLB DFS Value Plays: DraftKings and FanDuel August 1st
MLB DFS Value Plays DraftKings FanDuel August 1st
I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays DraftKings FanDuel on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.
Tonight’s slate features 15 games, with Colorado (6.6), New York (6), and Toronto (5.8), holding the best projected team totals. With high-priced players available tonight, finding value will be critical for success. Here are a handful of value plays on both DraftKings and FanDuel.
DraftKings MLB Values:
Adam Jones – BAL (OF) – $3400
Baltimore will host the visiting Royals tonight, in a game in which the Orioles are projected to score 5.1 runs. While there are a few teams with better projections, Orioles outfielder, Adam Jones, is extremely discounted on DraftKings, relative to FanDuel. Jones’ price has taken a nose dive of late, as he’s now priced at $3400, over $1000 cheaper than he was in the weeks earlier. Jones has struggled to produce fantasy scoring, however, all of his batted ball have improved of late. In the last 15 days, his distance is up 13 feet, his hard hit percentage is up 13%, and his exit velocity is up 4 MPH. Jones is the perfect example of an appealing buying opportunity with his price falling, but his batted ball numbers increasing.
Aaron Judge – NYY (OF) – $4900
Aaron Judge doesn’t fit the typical definition of “value”, however even with a steep price, he will offer the most value out of any the top-tier batters. In the last 15 days, Judge’s price reached as high as $5700, and he’s now priced at $4900 on DraftKings. The Yankees have the fourth best projected team total at 5.7 runs. Again, Judge won’t be a source of salary relief per se, but is far too cheap relative some of the other top hitters.
Josh Donaldson – TOR (3B) – $3900
After going deep last night, Josh Donaldson actually received a price drop, given the game at Coors Field tonight. Donaldson, who is usually priced well into the $4000’s, is fairly cheap tonight and will still be a part of one of the best team totals on the slate. Donaldson is much cheaper on DraftKings and will benefit from facing a righty, as he holds a .367 wOBA split and a .207 ISO split.
FanDuel MLB Values:
Asdrubal Cabrera – NYM (3B) – $3800
The Mets will travel to Colorado as slight underdogs tonight, but Asdrubal Cabrera offers great value on FanDuel. Priced much cheaper on FanDuel, Cabrera will benefit from the Mets’ team total of 6 runs, and from a matchup vs. a righty. Cabrera, a switch hitter, holds a .356 wOBA split and a .213 ISO split against righties.
Brian Goodwin – WAS (OF) – $3500
While Washington doesn’t find themselves at the top of the projected team totals tonight, outfielder, Brian Goodwin, could be a solid source of value. Goodwin should be leading off for the Nats tonight and will be in an advantageous matchup against a lefty. Goodwin has held reverse splits so far this season, with a .439 wOBA split and a .295 ISO split. Goodwin has also been hitting the ball well as of late. In the last 15 days, his distance is up 29 feet, his hard hit percentage is up 16%, and his exit velocity is up 3 MPH.
Joc Pederson – LAD (OF) – $3200
Joc Pederson may be a little more off of the board, but the power hitting lefty could offer value if he finds a spot near the top half of the order. Pederson is slightly cheaper than normal and will benefit from facing a righty. Pederson mashes right-handed pitching with a .389 wOBA split (.147 better than when facing a lefty) and a .269 ISO split (.187 better than when facing a lefty).
lefty).
