Kam Chancellor is an anchor on one of the best defenses in the NFL, and the Seattle Seahawks locked him up for three more years.
The Seattle Seahawks boast one of the best defenses in the NFL, thanks in part to their excellent secondary. On Tuesday, the Seahawks made sure to keep one of their better pieces in place, signing Kam Chancellor to a new three-year extension. Chancellor was entering the final year of a five-year deal signed back in 2013, and with Earl Thomas returning, the Legion of Boom looks to be in full force for 2017.
Deshaun Watson was an absolute stud during his time with the Clemson Tigers, leading the team to the national title last season. A first-round pick of the Houston Texans, Watson was supposed to sit behind Tom Savage at the quarterback position in his rookie season, but he is certainly trying to change that. Head coach Bill O’Brien said on Tuesday that “Deshaun is ahead of any rookie quarterback I’ve ever been around,” which is high praise coming from someone who is so good with quarterbacks.
Ryan Clady was one of the better offensive tackles in the NFL early in his career, making two first-team All Pro selections. However, he missed all of last season due to a season-ending shoulder injury, which landed him on the injured reserve. Instead of coming back, the 30-year-old Clady decided to retire on Tuesday, leaving behind a very solid legacy during his eight NFL seasons.
Vontaze Burfict is used to getting in trouble on the football field, taking cheap shots at the opposition. On Tuesday, Burfict appeared to take a cheap shot at his own teammate, going low on running back Giovanni Bernard. The incident cause a fight during the Cincinnati Bengals practice, and for Burfict, you have to wonder how much of this the team is going to put up with this season.

Finally, the New England Patriots found themselves in a bit of a scuffle at practice on Tuesday as well. Newly acquired cornerback Stephon Gilmore and veteran wide receiver Julian Edelman got into it during the practice, and were asked to leave. The scuffle can actually be seen as a good thing for a team that does not look at all complacent coming off another Super Bowl win in February.
