Kristaps becoming a taller Dirk is one of the best case scenarios for his career. He may be off to the right start, working out with Dirk this summer in South Africa.
Knicks fans have had a rough summer once again. Between Phil Jackson making a questionable draft pick, to almost trading their franchise Unicorn Kristaps Porziņģis, to realizing they’re likely going to get 75 cents on the dollar for Carmelo Anthony. Until today, the bright spot in the Knicks offseason has been Phil Jackson being let go.
Well, breathe easy Knicks fans, because the greatest news of your summer has arrived today. In South Africa, training for Saturday’s 2017 NBA Africa Game, collaboration has taken place. Dirk Nowitzki and Kristaps Porziņģis are working out together before playing in the NBA’s Africa Game for the World Team.
Behold, the greatest stretch forward of all time working out with Porziņģis. This may seem like a small thing, NBA players work out together all the time right? Wrong. This is a big deal. It’s a big deal because Knicks fans cannot catch a break, and Porziņģis working out and getting advice from his best case scenario player replica is really important.
Next: Five lineups we can’t wait to see next NBA season
The two had tried to get together last offseason, but it just never really worked out. But the NBA’s Africa Game gave the perfect opportunity for the two to connect and discuss the beautiful style of play they both deploy.
While they aren’t the exact same player obviously, Porziņģis has shown us a brief glimpse the last couple of years as to what he can be when at his best. Getting some of the tricks of the stretch big man trade from Nowitzki is incredibly wise from Porziņģis’ side. Hopefully its a bright spot in the summer of Knicks fans.
