Malcolm Jenkins criticizes NFL owners over Colin Kaepernick situation

Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins was not shy in voicing his opinion on how NFL owners have handled the Colin Kaepernick situation

There’s no question that Colin Kaepernick has been a hot topic this offseason. The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback is still without a job. Many believe this is from his protests last season when he chose to kneel during the National Anthem to protest police brutality.

Kaepernick has since been linked to a number of teams this offseason. The most recent team has been the Baltimore Ravens.

When Joe Flacco hurt his back, Kaepernick was discussed as a possible backup option. With current backup Ryan Mallett playing poorly in training camp, a potential move made sense.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was public about the situation, saying the team had direct discussion with Kaepernick. Many then became upset when the team chose to seek outside opinions on the matter.

Even some NFL players expressed their displeasure. Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins had this to say:

"This is just some other teams being, quite honestly, cowards, to say that they’re afraid of backlash to sign someone to make their team better when fans’ input has never been in the equation when it comes to signing people in the past"

The argument for signing Kaepernick certainly makes sense. Even though 49ers were terrible last season, Kaepernick still played well. He finished the season with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Kaepernick does also have a proven track record on the field. He’s been to two NFC Championships and one Super Bowl.

The Kaepernick frenzy might not last in Baltimore much longer. Thursday, Dolphins’ starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill went down with a leg injury and he is seeking second opinion from medical professionals.

If the injury requires surgery, Kaepernick could be a potential replacement. After all, he held out earlier in the offseason in hopes of finding a starting job. This could finally be his chance.
