The injury bug has followed the Los Angeles Chargers north from San Diego, as promising rookie guard Forrest Lamp has torn his right ACL in camp.

Man, are the Los Angeles Chargers snake bitten. They just can’t catch a break, as yet another promising player has had his season cut short by injury. L.A.’s second-round pick out of Western Kentucky, Forrest Lamp tore his right ACL in training camp. His rookie campaign in Los Angeles ends before it really begins. You have to feel for the guy. At least the Chargers doubled down on guards in the draft by taking Dan Feeney out of Indiana in the third round.

It wasn’t a great day at the New York Giants camp, as second-year wide receiver Sterling Shepard was carted off the field with an apparent injury. New York may have Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall in the receiving corps, but Shepard is a massively important part of the Giants passing game. Hope he’s okay.

The Colin Kaepernick saga has taken root in Charm City. Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has listened to his brother Jim Harbaugh and might want to sign Kaepernick to be Joe Flacco’s backup in 2017. While general manager Ozzie Newsome is on board with Kaepernick being a Raven, owner Steve Bisciotti has his concerns. Does he really want a newsworthy quarterback coming into challenge for Flacco’s job? Keep an eye on this development.

It looks like the Carolina Panthers made a great move in taking former Stanford Cardinal running back Christian McCaffrey at No. 8 in the 2017 NFL Draft. He was an unbelievable player in the Pac-12. While some questioned if his Reggie Bush-like game would translate to the NFL, he did make the Panthers’ best player, inside linebacker Luke Kuechly, look like a fool in camp this week. If McCaffrey plays like he did in Stanford, might the Panthers win the NFC South for the fourth time in five years?

Finally, New Orleans Saints pass rusher Cameron Jordan decided to throw Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles under the bus. Jordan said that going against Drew Brees in practice every day isn’t like going against a pick machine in Bortles. Bortles did throw five picks in Jaguars practice earlier in the week. He’s had his struggles the last year plus, but that’s an uncalled for cheap shot by Jordan.
