MLB DFS Value Plays DraftKings FanDuel August 4th
I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays DraftKings FanDuel on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.
Tonight’s slate features 13 games, with Colorado (6.4), Boston (5.6), Texas (5.4), Philadelphia (5.3), and Pittsburgh (5.3), holding the best projected team totals. With high priced players available tonight, finding value will be critical to success. Here are a handful of value plays on both DraftKings and FanDuel.
DraftKings MLB Values:
Adam Jones – BAL (OF) – $3100
Baltimore will host the Tigers again tonight, in a game in which the Orioles are projected to score 5.2 runs. While this team total falls just outside of the top five, hitters like Adam Jones, offer tremendous value on DraftKings. Jones is one of the best bargains on DraftKings tonight, as he is much more expensive on FanDuel. $3100 is far and away, the cheapest that Jones has been in the last 15 days.
Chris Davis – BAL (1B) – $3700
Chris Davis is another Orioles hitter who is discounted on DraftKings tonight. Davis will benefit from facing a righty tonight, where he holds a .355 wOBA split and a .286 ISO split (.148 better than when facing a lefty). Both the line and the total have seen serious movement early in the day, indicating that sharp money may be high on the Orioles offense tonight.
Yulieski Gurriel – HOU (1B) – $3300
Yulieski Gurriel has is also much cheaper than normal, as he is priced at $3300 for tonight’s matchup with the Blue Jays. Gurriel was priced well into the $4000’s and even hit $5000 in late July. Gurriel, a righty, holds reverse splits, with a .343 wOBA split and a .177 ISO split. If Gurriel is batting in the top half of the order, he’ll be an option to consider tonight.
FanDuel MLB Values:
Tyler Flowers – ATL (C) – $2700
With a matchup against a lefty, Tyler Flowers drew fourth in the batting order last night. Atlanta will be tasked with facing another lefty tonight and if Flowers is hitting in the top half of the order again, he’ll be offer significant salary relief. Flowers hasn’t put up any fantasy production out of the ordinary, but his recent batted ball stats would indicate that he’s swing the bat very well. In the last 15 days, his distance is up 40 feet, his hard hit percentage is up 21%, and his exit velocity is up 5 MPH.
Albert Pujols – LAA (1B) – $3000
Albert Pujols is simply way too cheap on FanDuel, relative to DraftKings. Pujols should be batting third and will offer power upside at a moderate price (.048 HR per at bat). Pujols holds reverse splits, with a .310 wOBA split and a .184 ISO split.
Andrew McCutchen – PIT (OF) – $4000
Pittsburgh holds one of the highest team totals on the slate tonight and outfielder, Andrew McCutchen, is severely underpriced on FanDuel. McCutchen will draw a matchup against a lefty, in which he holds a wOBA split of .467 (.108 better than when facing a righty) and an ISO split of .396 (.216 better than when facing a righty). Given the matchup, the team total, and the price, McCutchen is one of the best, top tier options tonight.
