Hall of Fame: Jason Taylor thanks Dan Snyder for all the money (Video)

Jason Taylor knows he didn’t live up to his contract with the Washington Redskins but thanked owner Dan Snyder for all the cash.
Another crop of all-time greats is entering the annals in Canton, Ohio. The Pro Football Hall of Fame is inducting a new class on Saturday night, including defensive end Jason Taylor.
Taylor spent the majority of his career with the Miami Dolphins but had a brief stint with the Washington Redskins that wasn’t necessarily the caliber of talents. But he still collected a lot of cash, and Taylor made sure to thank Redskins owner Daniel Snyder for the moolah.
“I know I didn’t provide much, 2.5 sacks, stole a lot of money from you but I appreciate it,” Taylor quipped.
Taylor had signed a six-year, $45 million dollar extension with the Dolphins in 2004.

The Redskins were thrilled to get Taylor after his relationship with the Dolphins soured. The Dolphins got a second-round pick in 2009 and a sixth-round choice in 2010 for Taylor.
“His play speaks for itself. I think it’s easy to talk about Jason Taylor. He’s got statistics and everything else to back up everything that he’s done,” Washington executive vice president Vinny Cerrato said back in 2008. “So we had to act after losing our starting defensive end Phillip Daniels, and talked to Parcells after practice today and we were able to work something out.”
When the Redskins cut Taylor after one season he had $8 million left on the final year of his contract. The heart of that decision was Taylor’s desire to be with his family.
Taylor ended his career with 139.5 sacks and is entering the Hall of Fame after his first time on the ballot.
“My football career, forever, ends right here… Tonight,” Taylor said. “My gratitude is eternal. Thank you.”
