Jay Cutler signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins, see how Twitter reacted to the news

In a not-so-shocking fashion, Jay Cutler has come out of retirement. The former Bears quarterback has signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the deal will be worth $10 million.

Cutler, who planned to become a broadcaster for FOX, retired following the end of last season. His retirement was short-lived however as he was called on by former offensive coordinator Adam Gase. Gase, who is the head coach of the Dolphins, reached out to Cutler as he is in desperate need for a starting quarterback.

Starter Ryan Tannehill went down in training camp with a serious non-contact knee injury. Although the Dolphins have not released anymore updated news on Tannehill’s injury, the signing of Cutler speaks volumes. The Dolphins starter will likely undergo knee surgery and miss the entirety of the 2017 season.

Presumably, the signing provides a fantastic opportunity to both sides. Cutler, whose heart still resides with the NFL, will get another chance to ride off into the sunset. Furthermore, the Dolphins, who view this team as playoff-caliber, will now have the chance to make a playoff run with Cutler, as opposed to Matt Moore, at the helm. Three of Cutler’s best four seasons in the NFL came in 2013-15. The best season of his career, 2015, came with Gase as his OC.

Despite Cutler’s signing being reported for a couple of days, Twitter still had some crazy and very different reactions to the news:

Some liked the move, while others… did not.

Ultimately, Twitter provided all sorts of insight. Above all, Cutler brings experience to the table, something Matt Moore cannot offer. Cutler’s knowledge of Gase’s system made for the perfect signing as opposed to a guy like Colin Kaepernick.
