Colin Kaepernick is getting blackballed

The Baltimore Ravens’ decision not to sign Colin Kaepernick makes it very clear the QB is getting blackballed.

Joe Flacco’s balky sent a scare through the Baltimore Ravens. No one wants to enter the season with Ryan Mallet as their starting quarterback, even perhaps Mallet. Almost immediately, news surfaced the Ravens were interested in Colin Kaepernick, arguably the best quarterback available.

Head coach John Harbaugh was on board with signing Kaepernick. General manager Ozzie Newsome was interested in Kaepernick, too. The problem was at the top of the food chain. ESPN reported owner Steve Biscotti had reservations about signing Kaepernick. Biscotti asked fans to pray for him, as the team deliberated, and deliberated, and apparently continue to deliberate.

Miami moved aggressively to sign Jay Cutler after Ryan Tannehill injured his knee. Adam Gase’s passionate efforts to pry Cutler away from his work at Fox paid off. Cutler had his best season with Gase and is clearly comfortable with his system, but he’ll have to win over the trust of his teammates.

Cutler has had multiple run-ins with teammates over the years, while Kaepernick won the “Len Eshmont Award” last year. The award goes to the player who “best exemplified the inspirational and courageous play of Len Eshmont—a Navy vet—an original member of the 1946 49ers team.” High praise from his teammates for Kaepernick last season.

Kaepernick’s Fidel Castro remarks were a land mine the Dolphins were probably happy to avoid. Kaepernick would have been cheaper than Cutler. Kaepernick also has a trip to the Super Bowl and four playoff wins. Cutler has never been to the Super Bowl and has one playoff win. Kaepernick finished with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions last year, while Cutler finished with four touchdowns and five interceptions.

Then there’s the rest of the quarterbacks who have been signed this offseason, including Kellen Moore, Aaron Murray, Chase Daniel, Case Keenum, Mat McGloin, Blaine Gabbert. Brian Hoyer. Matt Barkley. Come. On. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what’s going with Kaepernick and NFL owners. Thanks for the transparency, Baltimore, and for helping get the truth out there for all to see.
