In Week 1 action of the 2017 NFL preseason slate, the San Francisco 49ers travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs inside Arrowhead Stadium.

The Kansas City Chiefs won the AFC West last season, beating the Oakland Raiders twice to take the division despite the fact the two teams had the same 12-4 record. As they head into 2017, they will have to figure out how to win in the playoffs, as they were shocked by the Pittsburgh Steelers at home in the Divisional Round. They have the talent to make a nice run, and it all starts on Friday.

Their opponent inside Arrowhead Stadium will be the San Francisco 49ers, who have a new brain-trust at the top of the organization. Both general manager John Lynch, and head coach Kyle Shanahan signed six-year deals with the team, and will be responsible for making the 49ers a legitimate player in the NFC. They have their work ahead of them, but they definitely made a splash in their first offseason together.

San Francisco had a solid draft, picking up some special defensive players in the first round. Word around the organization is Brian Hoyer is having a great camp, though he is usually hit or miss under center. This team is going to go through some growing pains in 2017, but the future is definitely bright for an organization that was once the class of the NFC.

Here is how to watch all of the action online:

Date: Friday, August 11, 2017

This will be a battle of two teams that will be headed in different directions in 2017, as the Chiefs are a favorite to return to the playoffs. However, it is going to be a learning process in San Francisco for at least the next two seasons, though their defense should be exciting. Losing Malcolm Smith is going to hurt, but this team is young, and should be at least fun to watch.
