2. John Hammond

When you google “John Hammond” the first result is of some blues singer. There are also results for the fictional character in Jurassic Park. The current general manager of the Orlando Magic pops up, but he’s surrounded by the other two.

John Hammond the NBA executive is better at his job than the other two John Hammond’s. He’s certainly better than the guy who created a park that had dinosaurs kill innocent people.

Hammond might not be the best executive in the league, but he built a solid team in Milwaukee and didn’t get enough credit for doing so. His Bucks made the playoffs four of the nine seasons he was in charge, which isn’t bad considering that they’re Milwaukee. They also won 15 games one season, but that just set them up to win 41 next year. See, Hammond is smart.

Very few people talk about the job Hammond did in Milwaukee. More people praise Sam Hinkie than they do Hammond. The Sixers haven’t won anything and Hinkie isn’t even in the league.

Hammond’s departure from Milwaukee and the Bucks search for a new general manager didn’t even make headlines because Cleveland decided to burn their entire front office to the ground.

Now Hammond tries to gain attention by fixing the mess in Orlando. Let’s just keep him away from theme parks.
