Who is Bryce Harper’s replacement after potential knee injury?
Who is Bryce Harper’s replacement for the Washington Nationals after the former NL MVP’s injury trying to leg out a hit at first base?
The Washington Nationals received a huge scare in the first inning of their game with the San Francisco Giants on Saturday night in the form of a lower body injury for All-Star outfielder Bryce Harper.
Harper, who won last year’s NL MVP award, was trying to beat out a play at first base and with the constant rainfall in the nation’s capital on Saturday, the base itself was rather slick and it resulted in Harper injuring his leg.
If you missed the play, you can watch it below. (WARNING: The injury is a graphic leg injury.)
The last thing the Nats could afford is an injury to their MVP and one of the best players in the game today. Harper was hitting .327 coming into tonight’s contest with 29 home runs and 87 runs batted in, and was well on his way to being a contender for the NL MVP again this season.
But, if his season just ended with a slick base, that throws a huge dagger into the World Series chances for the Nationals, who have been running away with the NL East for weeks.
With Harper gone for the time being, who replaced Harper in the Nationals outfield? 23-year-old Andrew Stevenson replaced Harper in the Nationals lineup on Saturday night. Stevenson, a six-foot outfielder from LSU, had just 15 at-bats this season under his belt before the Harper injury.

There’s no telling how long Harper could be out as of now. He could miss a few games, a few weeks or the rest of the season. There’s been no official word as to whether or not Harper will miss substantial time, but for the time being, Andrew Stevenson is a popular name in D.C.
