Brad Keselowski tops the Pure Michigan 400 starting grid. Here’s the complete starting lineup for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan.
It’s a nice homecoming for NASCAR‘s Brad Keselowski, as the Michigan native captured the pole for Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400. Keselowski will start on the front row alongside his Team Penske teammate Joey Logano, but some other teams weren’t as lucky.
The qualifying session for this week’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race was once again dismal for Hendrick Motorsports. Aside from Chase Elliott (fifth), no Hendrick driver was inside the Top 15. Their best qualifier other than the No. 24 was Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 19th. Adding injury to insult, Jimmie Johnson wrecked his car in Saturday’s practice and will go to a backup entry for the race.
Kyle Larson, who comes into Michigan as the defending race winner, managed a decent ninth spot in qualifying but will have his work cut out for him if he wants to repeat. Last week’s Watkins Glen winner Martin Truex Jr. is a few spots further back in 13th. But don’t sleep on Matt Kenseth, who’s still hungry for that first victory before his Joe Gibbs Racing contract expires, and is a comfortable fourth.
