Ric Flair medical update: Nature Boy in medically induced coma, preparing for surgery

Ric Flair was hospitalized over the weekend and now there’s a report he’s in a medically induced coma
This past weekend, some unfortunate news broke that the legendary “Nature Boy” Ric Flair was checked into the hospital for some heart-related issues. According to someone on Flair’s management staff at the time, it was just for some routine monitoring. However, we’re learning on Monday that Flair’s condition is anything but “routine.”
There were some reports floating around on Monday that the 16-time professional wrestling world champion was put into a medically-induced coma. Early Monday afternoon, TMZ confirmed that report through a rep for WWE. Flair indeed in the coma and they are preparing him for surgery.
The whole situation has been pretty vague since Saturday when it was first reported that Flair was admitted to the hospital. Monday, though, was when we all started to assume that the situation was worse than some had all expected. Prominent folks within the wrestling community began to send their well wishes on Twitter, sending up a serious red flag.
Right now, this is all that we know about the condition of the former NWA/WCW/WWF/E world champion.
Flair right now is not an active member of the WWE roster, rather acting as an ambassador for the company on various appearances. Of course, his legacy right now within professional wrestling is being carried on by his daughter Charlotte, who is making her mark as one of the greatest women’s wrestlers that we have ever seen step into a ring.
