Baron Corbin cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase on Tuesday night, and well, things did not really go his way

Well, WWE certainly wanted to make sure that the final SmackDown Live before SummerSlam was one to remember. They made that possible by having a Money in the Bank briefcase cash-in happen on the show — however, things did really not go the way of one Baron Corbin.

In the main event of the evening on Tuesday, we got the advertised match of John Cena vs. WWE Champion Jinder Mahal. When it appeared as if the match was coming to a close following Cena hitting an AA from the top rope to Mahal, Corbin appeared to do some damage to his SummerSlam opponent. While he was walking up the ramp, Corbin decided that this was the perfect time to cash in his case.

The bell rang and Corbin was ready to become the WWE Champion right before SummerSlam is set to take place. Well, the only problem was, Corbin was paying too much attention to Cena, who ended up screwing him out of the briefcase and letting Mahal get the win to retain his title.

Corbin now joins Damien Sandow and, ironically enough, Cena on the list of names who were not able to cash in the briefcase successfully. It’s a turn of events that no one really saw coming, as the common thinking to this point was even a Corbin cash-in on Sunday night on the winner of Mahal vs. Shinsuke Nakamura.

Well, that won’t be happening now, as we have to wait nearly another year to see a new Money in the Bank holder.

Now, though, things on Sunday between Corbin and Cena just became a little more interesting.
