Beginning on Wednesday, well-known SEC personality Paul Finebaum will be talking about more than just the most polarizing conference in college football

Strap in, college football fans, because everyone’s beloved radio host, Paul Finebaum, will be branching out of the SEC world for a bit. ESPN issued a release on Tuesday announcing that the SEC radio host will begin talking about the national college football landscape for one hour per day. This all will begin on Wednesday at 2.p.m. ET and it will be on television only on ESPN2. It will act as a lead-in to his normal SEC-related radio show, which airs Monday-Friday from 3-7 p.m. ET and is simulcast on the SEC Network.

Really, this move was only a matter of time. With the following that he had in the south just on the radio alone, ESPN made the smart move to bring Finebaum into the fold with the launch of their new SEC Network. Since then, his role within the network has only grown, as he makes frequent appearances on SportsCenter and other shows within the company.

Despite being one of the more successful sports radio hosts of this generation, Finebaum does have a lot of haters out there in the world, mainly because of the perception that he is the biggest SEC sympathizer that you will fine. Does he come across that way? Sure, at times, but then there are other times where you can tell he’s just trolling everyone and having fun doing it.

So, taking this approach national, at least for one hour per day to start, is a good move for the network. There’s little doubt that he’ll have some great guests on frequently with knowledge of the landscape outside of the SEC world, just providing some more college football content to watch as the season sets to get underway.

That’s never a bad thing.
