Samoa Joe could leave WWE SummerSlam as the Universal Champion. Here’s why he should win the main event.
In what is turning into one of the most interesting installments of WWE SummerSlam in years, this Sunday’s main event is a battle of the monsters. Brock Lesnar will defend his Universal Championship in the main event against Samoa Joe, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman.
Paul Heyman has already been on the record saying that he and his client are walking should he not leave with the title this Sunday. With four men in the ring, Lesnar doesn’t have to factor into the decision to lose his belt.
There is a very strong possibility that someone else could be leaving Brooklyn as the champion. After an impressive showing against Brock Lesnar at WWE Great Balls of Fire, Samoa Joe could very well end up winning the championship. Here’s five reasons to make the case he should be champion.
5. He’s still at his best
At 38 years old, Samoa Joe is still on top of his game in the ring. His work in the ring is great just as it always has been and his matches thus far in the company have been highly talked about from NXT to the main roster.
Since he’s entered into the main event scene, Joe has brought the physicality and intensity to a scene that has absolutely needed it. The RAW brand’s main event scene was suffering a bit with a part-time champion and it has seemingly elevated itself thanks to Joe.
As Universal Champion, Joe would be the standard bearer and certainly would create an example for all aspiring champions. He has all the intangibles of a great champion and will put up Match of the Year candidates.
