A look at what should be the final card for this year’s WWE SummerSlam.
With the major matches being made official over the past three weeks, no work was done to the SummerSlam card on Tuesday’s edition of SmackDown.
Instead, we saw Jinder Mahal and Shinsuke Nakamura have their first interaction and Carmella once again threaten to cash in her Money in the Bank contract following Naomi’s match with Natalya on Sunday.
In a huge surprise, Baron Corbin interfered in the main event between Mahal and John Cena. Ok, that wasn’t the surprise. The surprise was that Corbin attempted to cash in his Money in the Bank contract after the match. With Mahal down from a super AA, it looked like Corbin would win his first WWE Championship, but a distraction by Cena led to a roll-up by the champion and a 3-count.
With Corbin using his briefcase, there’s no threat looming over the head of Mahal and Nakamura on Sunday.
Unless matches are added this coming week via social media, the final card stands at 12 matches. Each brand has six matches, giving a nice balance to the card. Furthermore, aside from the Universal Championship bout, there are no multi-man matches in an effort to get as many people on the card as possible.
There are some noticeable names missing, which leads me to believe that Kurt Angle and Daniel Bryan might have a couple of match announcements up their sleeve this week.
