5. Hafpor Julius Bjornsson

Few individuals are as physically imposing as Hafpor Julius Bjornsson, better known as Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane on the hit television show, Game of Thrones. The Icelandic strongman is certainly intimidating at 6-foot-9 and just under 400 lbs.

He has earned international fame for his role as Gregor Clegane on Game of Thrones. The charismatic and villainous character has been a key player throughout the show since taking over the role in season four. He’s also responsible for one of the most brutal scenes in the show’s history.

Bjornsson is more than just an actor, however. He has won multiple strongman competitions and is the reigning Europe’s Strongest Man, the third time he’s held the title. In 2015 he earned the title of World’s Strongest Viking, breaking a 1,000-year-old record in the process.

But what connection does he have to McGregor?

In 2015, Bjornsson visited McGregor’s gym in Ireland and it turned out to be for more than just a tour. “The Mountain” and “The Notorious” took part in a friendly sparring session during the visit. Although the rumors of McGregor appearing in Game of Thrones are apparently false, the connection remains.

It could certainly provide a level of intimidation if McGregor walks to the ring with a 6-foot-9 record-breaking strongman at his back.
