Juventus sign Blaise Matuidi for an initial fee of $23.4 million
Juventus have confirmed the signing of midfielder Blaise Matuidi from Paris Saint-Germain for an initial fee of $23.4 million.
Juventus have completed the transfer of central midfielder Blaise Matuidi from Paris Saint-Germain. The initial fee for Matuidi is set at $23.4 million, with the possibility of getting another $12.36 million added onto that based off how many games the 30 year old plays for Juventus.
Matuidi was an important piece of the puzzle for PSG last season, helping them to a fourth consecutive Ligue 1 title. Along with showing his importance to his now-former club, he has proven to be a fantastic addition to the midfield of the French national team.
Matuidi made 34 appearances for PSG in the league last season, with eight of them coming off the bench. During that time he contributed with four goals and four assists to go with his impressive 90.8 percent pass success rate.
The Frenchman also impressed in the Champions League for PSG, completing 92.4 percent of his passes and contributing with two goals and one assist. Along with his impressive ability to control the play through possession, Matuidi is solid defensively as well.
Last season he completed 1.8 tackles per 90 and had 1.1 interceptions per 90 in Ligue 1. His all-around ability made him a very important player for PSG, and will fit in perfectly with Juventus and the style of soccer they play in Serie A.
He replicated this defensive work in the Champions League, completing 2.9 tackles per 90 and 1.3 interceptions per 90. This is something that Juventus will be hoping he can translate to Serie A and their quest to win the Champions League.

Matuidi is part of a very busy summer for Juventus, as he is the ninth signing they have made this transfer window. Matuidi will reportedly be earning $4 million per season while playing for Juventus.
