In Week 2 of NFL preseason action, the New York Jets travel to Detroit to take on the Lions at Ford Field on Saturday night.

During their Week 1 matchup against the Tennessee Titans, the New York Jets saw good things out of two of their quarterbacks. Second-year signal-caller did not do too many things to make you scratch your head, and probable starter Josh McCown led the team to a touchdown on their first drive. Overall, it was a nice effort by both men, who are both in the running to be the guy under center when the Jets kick off their season in September.

For the Lions, Week 1 of the preseason brought a nice victory, albeit a costly one. The Lions lost starting defensive end Kerry Hyder for the season, which could prove to be a big blow to them going forward. Detroit surprised many by being a playoff team last season, and with Matthew Stafford as their quarterback, they should be very good once again in 2017.

While Detroit figures to be in the mix for a playoff spot this upcoming season, it could be a very long season for the Jets. The team got rid of most of their veteran players this offseason, choosing instead to go with young players. While some in the media have suggested that they are tanking the season to get one of the talented quarterbacks in next April’s draft, the case could be made that the roster just needed a total overhaul.

Usually, Week 3 of the NFL preseason slate is when teams have a true dress rehearsal with their starting units. However, both teams have some major question marks heading into Saturday’s matchup and are both coming off wins in Week 1. Expect some good football early on, as players look to make a name for themselves before the rosters start getting cut down.
