Drew McIntyre and Bobby Roode capped off NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III with a hard fought match for the NXT Championship.
In a battle of entitlement versus will, Bobby Roode and Drew McIntyre aimed to tear each other apart in the main event of NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III on Saturday night. McIntyre came to the ring more determined than ever to become the man. The two engaged in an immense stare down to start.
The two sides engaged early in back-and-forth action that left both sides on the outside. Roode was seemingly always a move ahead of the challenger no matter what McIntyre threw at him. A beautiful missile dropkick highlighted his move set early.
McIntyre started to mount some offense, including a vicious elbow. A fireman’s carry into a slam would net him a two-count but not enough to bring him home the championship. The two would move to the ropes, where Roode would bounce back.

A backstabber by Roode would almost put the challenger away, but McIntyre managed to kick out. A future shock DDT counter would almost catch the champion off guard. The challenger went to work immediately. However, his momentum was short lived as Roode caught him off the top rope with a big power bomb.

If back and forth wasn’t enough, a Claymore would almost put Roode down for the count if he didn’t get his foot on the rope. McIntyre went for a pin but Roode caught him with a DDT out of nowhere. Roode looked to finish the challenger off once and for all. He caught McIntyre with another glorious DDT and decided to go for the trifecta. Instead, his greed got the best of them and McIntyre landed the Claymore for the win.
