Southampton face West Ham at St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 19. Here’s all of the info you need to watch
West Ham and Southampton both started off the 2017-18 Premier League in fashions that they’d rather not have. The former suffered a big 4-0 defeat, while the latter drew 0-0 in a match in which they amassed 29 shots on the day. Now they both head to St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 19 looking for a more desirable result.
Obviously Southampton don’t offer the same caliber of opponent that Manchester United did for West Ham. But at the same time, this is still a team facing a uphill battle. Manuel Lanzini and Andy Carroll, two pivotal players in their attack, are out of action still due to injury. If there’s a silver lining, though, Michail Antonio is returning from offseason surgery and making his season debut.
At the same time, though, Southampton is going to be missing one of their best as well. The Virgil van Dijk transfer saga continues on and that means he’s still not taking the pitch. While they’d loved to have him in the middle of the defense, they still have plenty of talent to make noise. Defender Ryan Bertrand will be back for them, steadying the defense, and they’ll see prized signing Mario Lemina make his way onto the pitch.
Saturday’s game will not be broadcast on regular TV in the United States. However, fans can stream the action online through NBC Sports Live and FuboTV.
