Arsenal are coming off a seven-goal shootout with Leicester which they won 4-3. It was the opening game of the Premier League season and proved to be a teaser for a pretty wild first week. Goals from Danny Welbeck, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud allowed the Gunners to hold off the Foxes.
Arsenal fans were surely happy with three points on opening day, but giving up three goals to Leicester at the Emirates will raise some concerns. Alexis Sanchez was out of the lineup due to an abdominal injury. This will continue to raise anxiety levels as the playmaker, along with Mesut Ozil, has still not officially secured his future with Arsenal.
Even though the defense gave up three goals, new defender Sead Kolasinac looked strong in his Arsenal debut. He’s an imposing figure and showed a decent ability to get forward and join the attack.
Stoke lost their opening match of the season 1-0 away to Everton thanks to a goal from prodigal son Wayne Rooney. The potters threatened to level the score on multiple occasions but were rebuffed by new Everton keeper Jordan Pickford. Stoke would rather their first home match be against a lesser opponent, but will look to secure at least a point on Saturday nonetheless.
