Manchester United beat Swansea 4-0 in the Premier League on Saturday, Aug. 19. Here are all the highlights from the match.
Manchester United made it two wins out of two in the new Premier League season on Saturday, beating Swansea 3-0 at the Liberty Stadium. The scoreline perhaps flattered the Red Devils, who struggled to break their opponents down until three goals late on, but it was a comfortable win all the same.
The Swans set up to stifle United, playing with three at the back, but created the first good chance of the match in the fourth minute. Jordan Ayew was fortunate to get in behind the United defense after closing down an Eric Bailly clearance on the wing. His cross to Tammy Abraham at the back post was mis-hit, and came off the bar with David de Gea stranded.
As expected, United dominated the ball, but didn’t create many chances in the first half. Phil Jones hit the bar with a header from a Juan Mata free-kick in the 10th minute, but that was about as good as it got for the Red Devils until they took the lead on the stroke of halftime. The breakthrough came off a corner. Paul Pogba’s initial effort was denied by an excellent Lukasz Fabianski save, but Bailly was on hand to tap in the rebound.
The second half seemed to be following a similar pattern until Romelu Lukaku scored United’s second, his third of the season, in the 80th minute. Swansea capitulated after that, conceding twice more in the space of five minutes. Pogba got the Red Devils’ third with a delightful chip over Fabianski after being played through by Mkhitaryan, before Anthony Martial, on as a substitute, made it four two minutes later.

This was another dominant win by United, who move onto six points and will almost certainly maintain their place at the top of the table on goal difference, barring a very big win from someone later in the weekend. Swansea can take heart from their performance in the first 80 minutes, but Paul Clement will be concerned at the way his side collapsed in the closing stages.
