The fans in Cleveland aren’t wasting any time. They don’t want to lose the best thing that has ever happened to their city … again.

In what has been a horrendous summer for the Cleveland Cavaliers, their fanbase is taking matters into their own hands. In Akron, Ohio, a local store is selling “Stay Home” apparel in efforts to convince LeBron James to re-sign with the franchise next summer.

Due to his track record, they have a more than valid point. James doesn’t have a problem starting fresh. He left the Cavaliers in 2010 to join the Miami Heat to pursue his first championship and he left the Heat in 2014 to return to Cleveland, in hopes that he would deliver on his promise to bring the city its first championship.

Since losing to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, a lot has transpired. Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert refused to re-sign then general manager David Griffin. The team failed to add any significant additions, unless you want to count Derrick Rose, Jeff Green and Jose Calderon. Last but definitely not least, their franchise point guard in Kyrie Irving demanded a trade.

The culmination of this could be what pushes James right out of the door next summer, especially if they’re unable to compete with the much improved Boston Celtics, let alone the reigning champion Warriors.

Just in case you’re thinking about the Cavaliers trading James so they will be able to get something of value if he walks, think again. The Cavaliers are unable to trade James, because he won’t waive his “no-trade” clause that’s included in his current contract.

Free agency can be stressful, especially if you’re a Cavaliers fan. Next summer will make or break the city of Cleveland, especially if James’ “Decision” involves taking his talents elsewhere.
