Outfielder in Junior League World Series makes insane catch to rob a homer

The Little League World Series is on and getting all sorts of attention, including the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals playing a game in Williamsport Pennsylvania Sunday night at a little league field that has been modified.  However, the Junior League World Series is ongoing as well and those kids are proving how good they are and that they should have some of the spotlight.

Pennsylvania is playing Chinese Taipei currently and the center fielder for Pennsylvania made one of the best catches you will see in any baseball game at any time.

Check it out here.

WOW!

Centerfielder Jack Regenye of Pennsylvania is the one who made that catch robbing Yi Hsiang Lin of Chinese Taipei. Regenye, with absolutely no regard for his body leaps OVER the fence to attempt to make the catch and help Pennsylvania not fall any further behind (they were down 5-1 at the time of the catch). Not only that, he hung onto the ball after he landed on the ground following the leap, which made the catch even more impressive. It’s a great catch whether its a big league game or a Junior League World Series.

You’ll never see that kind of catch in the majors since the fences are so high, but it doesn’t make it any less impressive that a 14-year-old kid sacrificed his body and was able to make that sort of play. Even if his team doesn’t come back to win, it’s still a catch of a lifetime and something that he will remember forever and that will make him pretty popular in school once it starts up.

Thankfully, the umpires ruled it an out and not a homer.  Maybe the big leagues should shrink the fences so we could see someone like Mike Trout make that kind of catch, right?
