3. Corona

Tecate isn’t the only beer company invested in boxing.

If you thought Corona was going to give up because it lost the sponsorship war to its rival Tecate in 2015, you are sadly mistaken.

As aforementioned, Corona has not only been an affiliate of Mayweather’s in the past but has also been a major part of boxing events throughout the years. They too consider themselves a premier beer brand in the boxing world, so now is the chance for them to truly reaffirm that belief.

When “Money” went up against Pacquiao, the company put up an estimated $5.2 million to become an official sponsor and exclusive beer. This is more than half of what the cost to sponsor the Mayweather-McGregor fight is, but the price increase shouldn’t discourage them from bidding again.

And it may not have.

In fact, it appears as though they have become the official sponsor for the fight on Aug. 26.

On Friday, NASDAQ reported that Corona Extra has signed on to be the official beer of Mayweather-McGregor. Although there hasn’t been a statement released yet, there is an apparent press release from the vice president of brand marketing, John Alvarado, confirming the news.

If the news is true, this is a massive development in the lead-up to the fight. Mayweather and co. should be ecstatic that the company that has long endorsed them is the leading sponsor for another one of his fights.
