Jim McElwain described what his Florida team plans on doing to Michigan and the response from Jim Harbaugh should be tremendous

The opening weekend of college football is just about here, and one of the marquee games taking place on Saturday, Sep. 2 sees a Big Ten-SEC clash as the Michigan Wolverines will take on the Florida Gators inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Many expect this to be a close affair between two ranked teams, but it seems Florida head coach Jim McElwain has some other plans for how the game will play out.

During a rally on Sunday addressing the students, McElwain was not shy in letting the supporters know that not only do they plan to beat the Wolverines to open the season, but they are looking to make a lasting mark on one of the top teams from the Big Ten.

“We’re heading to Dallas here in a couple weeks to go beat the heck out of Michigan, and then come back to you guys,” McElwain said via Gridiron Now.

Now there’s never anything wrong with confidence from a head coach, especially the head coach of the two-time defending SEC East Champions. There’s also nothing wrong with predicting an outcome of this nature to get your fanbase just a little more fired up before one of the biggest games of the season — coaches do this all the time.

However, it’s very notable in this instance because McElwain just gave Jim Harbaugh and Michigan some bulletin board material. If there is one coach in the country you don’t want to give bulletin board material to, it’s unquestionably Harbaugh. So, you know it’ll only be a matter of time before he catches wind of this and we get one of his amazing responses as the season is set to get underway.

Sure, Alabama vs. Florida State will be the game everyone is looking forward to on that opening weekend, but this Florida-Michigan matchup just got a little more interesting.
