Floyd Mayweather is the overwhelming favorite in his upcoming bout with Conor McGregor, but what does he have to do to ensure victory?

On Saturday, Aug. 26, Floyd Mayweather Jr. ends his two-year retirement and will face UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor in a 12-round boxing match. This fight is far from a conventional boxing bout.

The whole premise of this fight is based on an athletic experiment: what would happen if the best boxer in the world fought the best MMA fighter in the world? The only problem with this equation is that this question is being settled inside of a boxing ring and not an octagon. Conventional wisdom suggests that Floyd Mayweather is the favorite to win this matchup in a boxing ring, and McGregor would be the favorite in an octagon. McGregor has different feelings about this and believes that he is the better fighter no matter what the circumstances.

The deck is stacked against Conor McGregor.

Floyd Mayweather is the best boxer in all of the sport. He is a forOlympicmpic medalist, has 21 years of professional boxing experience, and has an undefeated record of 49-0 with 26 knockout victories.

Conor McGregor has nine years of professional fight experience in the world of MMA, but has never fought professionally as a boxer. In essence, this fight pits an amateur against the best professional boxer in the world.

Mayweather should make easy work of McGregor, but he still needs to put in a basic level of work to dispatch the boxing newcomer. Here are five keys to victory for Floyd Mayweather to guarantee that his record remains unblemished.
