4. Stay Disciplined

According to SportsBookReview.comMayweather is highly favored to win over McGregor with odds ranging anywhere from -400 to -10,000. That’s quite a range, but it shows that nearly all of the odds makers are giving McGregor no chance of winning. Their odds make sense given the depth of Mayweather’s boxing experience and McGregor’s inexperience, but there is also some danger here for Mayweather.

With all of the odds in his favor, it is easy to see how Mayweather could enter the ring over confident. If he tries to box with arrogance this could lead to him showboating throughout the fight. If he does this, then he could leave himself open for that million-to-one punch that ends in victory for McGregor.

Mayweather should be confident going into this fight, but he should also be professional. He needs to stay disciplined and avoid playing any head games with McGregor. McGregor will do anything that might give him a chance to win, which includes talking during the fight. Mayweather should stay silent and keep on boxing. He needs to let his fists do the talking, not his mouth.

In 2011, Victor Ortiz had his chance to fight Mayweather. He did not stay disciplined in the ring and he let his emotions get the better of him. In the fourth round, Ortiz’s anger clouded his judgment and he headbutted Mayweather. Ortiz lost his composure.

Ortiz tried to apologize during the fight to Mayweather and he forgot that he was in a fight. He forgot to protect himself at all times and Mayweather made him pay. While Ortiz was attempting to apologize, Mayweather knocked him out with a right-cross in the fourth that ended the fight.

Mayweather has taken advantage of his opponents’ lack of discipline. He needs to make sure that he doesn’t give McGregor the same opportunity.
